"We're a Happy Family"

Good ol' Barney himself wouldn't attend church at this ugly place.

Formerly the "Ebenezer Lutheran Church," "Her Church" now promotes liberal Christianity - female deity and all. Extreme beliefs about God or not, no church painted various hues of purple should be taken seriously!

Their services are approximately 3 minutes long.

Here's an image of a postcard, from... the 1950's?

Fast Food Church

Besides the cross (and arguably the small sign in front), there doesn't seem to be any indication whatsoever that this is a church. ...Would you like fries with that?

Can't you just imagine this in the sanctuary?

Prison or Church?

Welcome to UglyChurches.com!

The idea for site was inspired by the picture above. When churches are supposed to be good examples of offering the very best to the almighty, inspiring us to lift our hearts and minds in worship, why are there so many of them that are downright ugly?

The church pictured above is L'Église Ste-Bernadette du Banlay, designed by Claude Parent, and located in Nevers, France. According to a NY Times article, this particular church building "is the expression of a culture living under the constant threat of nuclear annihilation and still haunted by the devastation of World War II." How uplifting.

Yuck.
