The idea for site was inspired by the picture above. When churches are supposed to be good examples of offering the very best to the almighty, inspiring us to lift our hearts and minds in worship, why are there so many of them that are downright ugly?
The church pictured above is L'Église Ste-Bernadette du Banlay, designed by Claude Parent, and located in Nevers, France. According to a NY Times article, this particular church building "is the expression of a culture living under the constant threat of nuclear annihilation and still haunted by the devastation of World War II." How uplifting.
Yuck.
